SmackDown Five-Point Preview: Dec. 17, 2015

The Showoff will Fight Owens Fight
Sunday night at WWE TLC, Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens to become the new Intercontinental Champion. The following night, Fight Owens Fight responded with a brutal attack on the new titleholder and his Raw opponent, Dolph Ziggler. Tonight on SmackDown, The Showoff will get a chance for retribution against KO when he goes head-to-head with the brash brawler.
Vote now: 2015 Slammy Awards voting is open!
Can Ziggler gain retribution against WWE’s prizefighter? And will The Lunatic Fringe look to deliver payback to his bitter rival after Monday night’s attack? Find out tonight at 8/7 C on Syfy.
Will there be repercussions for the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
On Raw, we witnessed the rise of the Roman Empire after Roman Reigns overcame the odds, The League of Nations, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, and of course Sheamus, en route to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
WWE.com exclusive: Reigns speaks candidly after winning title
Now that The Big Dog has finally reached the mountaintop — and has already surpassed his previous short-lived title run of five minutes and 15 seconds — what will he have to say when he kicks off Thursday’s hottest show? And more importantly, how will The Authority respond after Reigns Superman Punched the Chairman of the Board just one night after viciously attacking WWE COO Triple H at WWE TLC? What kind of consequences will WWE’s top titleholder face for his actions this past week? Will Mr. McMahon or Triple H be in any shape to respond tonight on SmackDown? And will The Celtic Warrior look to answer back? Get the answers to all these questions tonight at 8/7 C on Syfy.
Feeding time for The Big Guy?
A huge matchup is set for SmackDown tonight when Ryback takes on United States Champion Alberto Del Rio. The Big Guy will look to bounce back after a rough couple nights at WWE TLC and Raw. The Human Wrecking Ball passed out in Rusev’s Accolade submission on Sunday night before ending up on the losing side of a tag team clash Monday night against the United States Champion and The Super Athlete.
Ryback is looking to feed his hunger against The Essence of Excellence tonight on SmackDown. However, will the hulking Superstar get a fair chance against the member of The League of Nations? Or will we see Del Rio’s foreign allies stack the odds against Ryback?
Can unicorns fly higher than The Lucha Dragons?
The WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day and The Lucha Dragons were two-thirds of arguably one of the greatest Ladder Matches in WWE history at WWE TLC. Unfortunately for WWE’s luchadors, a well-thrown trombone at the back of Kalisto allowed Kofi Kingston to grab the titles Sunday night.
In typical New Day fashion, the boisterous trio rubbed salt in the wounds of their opponents on Raw with their over-the-top dancing celebration, prompting a beatdown from their WWE TLC challengers. Tonight on SmackDown, The Lucha Dragons will battle The New Day in a tag team clash as they try to fight their way back to the top of WWE’s competitive division. Can the masked Superstars soar above their positively obnoxious rivals? Plus, will Jimmy and Jey Uso look to make their presence felt and continue this red-hot three-way rivalry?
Will the luck of the Irish help Becky against Brie?
On Raw, Divas Champion Charlotte & Becky Lynch defeated Brie Bella & Alicia Fox thanks to ringside interference on the part of the titleholder’s father. The Irish Diva seemed unaware at the time of Ric Flair’s involvement, but reaped the rewards when she locked in the Dis-arm-her for the victory.
WWE TLC: Divas Champion Charlotte def. Paige with some help from her dad
The Lass Kicker previously has shown not been a fan of Charlotte and The Dirtiest Player in the Game’s tactics, but she certainly benefited from them Monday. During a Twitter exchange, Brie called Becky out on the way she achieved the submission victory on Raw, prompting tonight’s showdown between the two rival Divas. Will the fiery Becky battle Brie on her own, or will we see Charlotte — and perhaps even “The Nature Boy” — in her corner? And if the Flairs are present, will we see a fair fight?
