SmackDown Five-Point Preview: April 30, 2015
An Authority divided
Raw’s main event not only saw the team of Kane & Seth Rollins implode against Roman Reigns & Randy Orton, but it also led to the WWE Universe putting The Architect into a Triple Threat WWE World Heavyweight Title Match at WWE Payback against both The Big Dog and The Viper. But what will be the Authoritative fallout? Considering that Triple H & Stephanie McMahon were not in the building, will that fallout lands directly on the head of The Director of Operations tonight at 8/7 C on SmackDown?
In an exclusive WWE.com interview earlier this week, Kane denied that he had “gone into business for himself” against Rollins and that his job called for him to keep Rollins the World Champion because that’s what was “best for business” and that’s what he would do. But whether that’s the truth remains to be seen. Will the two Superstars be able to coexist after the events of WWE’s flagship show? Or will tensions continue to rise until they explode?
Is The New Day over before it starts?
At Extreme Rules, The New Day captured the WWE Tag Team Championships from Tyson Kidd & Cesaro. Tonight on SmackDown, the former titleholders will get their opportunity to end the new champions’ reign before it even gets off the mat. But can they do it?
The New Day may not be the WWE Universe’s favorite tag team, but that doesn't mean they won’t be extremely effective champions. Certainly, the fact that their faction consists of three members will always give them a strong advantage anytime they step in the ring to defend their titles.
On the flip side, if there are any two Superstars who can match their unique combination of power and quickness, it’s the power and quickness of the championship predecessors. And one has to wonder whether The New Day’s need to change the fans’ opinion of them might distract the champions for the important match ahead.
Find out who will emerge from SmackDown with the gold in their grasp, tonight on Syfy.
Feeding the Buzzards
Monday night, Bray Wyatt viciously attacked Ryback — presumably putting an end to the mystery as to who The Eater of World’s has been sending ominous messages to in recent weeks. But will the effects of the assault be felt on Thursday night’s best show?
It’s definitely a question worth asking as The Human Wrecking Ball prepares to go one-on-one with The Eater of World’s former Wyatt Family disciple Luke Harper. Will be The New Face of Fear play a part in the outcome of the match? Or will Ryback’s fierce aggression simply confirm that it’s never good to whet the appetite of one who wants you to “feed him more.”
Network … is … Jericho!!!
Tonight, SmackDown will be defined, not only by the show itself, but also by what the episode will serve as a prelude to. Immediately after SmackDown, WWE Network will bring Chris Jericho’s interview with Stephanie McMahon. The Principle Owner of WWE has a long history with Y2J. But will he ask the tough questions, following in the footsteps of his interview with John Cena?
Will #Axelmania run wild on Sandow?
Monday night saw the debut of the “new” Damien Sandow, ready to start again after his separation from the “Miz Brand.” But his good vibe hit a major roadblock when he was interrupted by Curtis Axel. While he quickly ridiculed Axel’s threat, will Sandow be able to overcome the power of #Axelmania tonight when the two go one-on-one on SmackDown? And will the contest be the first step toward Sandow building his own brand, free-and-clear of The Awesome One?
