SmackDown Five-Point Preview: Oct. 26, 2012

What ‘Hell’ will rise when Sheamus and Big Show stand face to face?

It’s no secret that World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and his gigantic No. 1 contender, Big Show, have shown absolutely zero tolerance for one another in the weeks leading up to their intense World Title showdown at Hell in a Cell. So what will happen Friday night when The Celtic Warrior comes face to face with The World’s Largest Athlete for the last time before they square off at the highly anticipated pay-per-view Sunday night?

The WWE Universe can expect a potentially explosive situation on SmackDown, one that will only further stoke the fires for an epic showdown at Hell in a Cell. But considering the force of the Brogue Kick and the KO Punch — which Big Show calls “the most lethal move in WWE” — just how volatile might their confrontation become? And if things do indeed get physical on SmackDown, could the damage jeopardize the imminent World Heavyweight Title clash from even taking place?

Will The Viper make a serpentine stand?

Randy Orton vs. The Miz: SmackDown, Oct. 19, 2012

"The Viper" Randy Orton goes one-on-one with The Miz while Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez watch the match from a luxury suite in the arena.

Conspicuously absent from Raw Monday night, will Randy Orton make one last blue brand strike in advance of his Hell in a Cell match against Alberto Del Rio tonight? One might argue that his Friday night appearance is crucial.

In recent weeks, The Mexican Aristocrat has paraded around the squared circle, mocking The Viper and even laying claim to Orton’s Apex Predator moniker. While the nine-time World Champion did return fire, unleashing an onslaught on The Mexican Aristocrat on Oct. 12, it does not seem that he has been able to slow his adversary down.

Can WWE’s Apex Predator hold off until Sunday before confronting his opponent? Or will these two rivals unleash the hate on SmackDown and brawl their way into “Hell”?

Can Team Rhodes Scholars build momentum heading into Hell in a Cell?

Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara vs. Team Rhodes Scholars - WWE Tag Team Championship No. Contenders' Tournament Final: Raw, Oct. 22, 2012

Team Rhodes Scholars duke it out with Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara for the right to face Team Hell No at Hell in a Cell.

Monday night, Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow knocked off the formidable and high-flying pair Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara to win the Tag Team No. 1 Contenders’ Tournament. Now, the self-professed “Most Intellectually Compatible Tag Team Ever” will have the opportunity to face Team Hell No and claim the WWE Tag Team Titles with a victory at Hell in a Cell.

Before setting out to battle the combined destructive force on the submission specialist and The Big Red Monster, however, does Team Rhodes Scholars need to build up momentum on SmackDown? To that point, will Team Hell No do whatever they can to ensure that their challengers run into a blue brand brick wall? Find out when the two tag teams square off in singles matches tonight: Kane vs. Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan vs. Damien Sandow.

Can The Miz return to Awesomeness?

Ryback vs. The Miz: Raw, Oct. 22, 2012

The Miz tries to be the first person to defeat Ryback.

It’s been a rough couple weeks for the now former Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

After losing his title to Kofi Kingston on the Oct. 17 episode of WWE Main Event, The Miz has scuffled a bit, finding himself in the unenviable position Monday night of coming face to face with the dominant Ryback on Raw. The Awesome One was dismantled by the monstrous and undefeated Superstar, a fate that, while many others have fallen victim to, did nothing to improve The Miz’s mood. So as he readies for his Intercontinental Title rematch against Kofi at Hell in a Cell, will Miz look to build up some good mojo on SmackDown?

Is the Booker T administration in jeopardy of collapse?

SmackDown Five-Point Preview: Oct. 26, 2012

With the controversy over who attacked Kaitlyn throwing the Divas division into a constant state of disarray, the question must be asked: Have the first true cracks begun to show in the Booker T administration? There’s no question that conflict has exploded between Divas Champion (and Assistant to the General Manager) Eve and Teddy Long, and that animosity is causing turmoil inside Booker’s inner circle. Which begs the question: Just how strong is Booker’s grasp on the blue brand if the foundation of his administration seems to be crumbling?

Since he’s taken the helms of the blue brand, the six-time former World Champion has seen ups and downs, but this new controversy between Eve, Kaitlyn, Layla and Teddy will put the GM’s mettle to the test.

And in light of AJ Lee stepping down over the events of the “AJ scandal,” will the WWE Board of Directors be keeping a close eye on The Master of the Spinaroonie.
