Will Sheamus and Daniel Bryan’s rivalry boil over into SmackDown main event?
On Monday’s Raw SuperShow, Permanent General Manager of both Raw and SmackDown John Laurinaitis added a surprising stipulation to the non-title match between World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Mark Henry: Special Guest Referee Daniel Bryan.
As one might have predicted, WWE’s resident “YES!”-man provoked The Great White from the start. He knew that the bruising titleholder would be fired from WWE if he put his hands on another referee - a ruling Mr. Laurinaitis passed down after Sheamus Brogue Kicked referee Chad Patton on the April 6 edition of SmackDown. But, Bryan's actions would prove to be Sheamus' undoing.
In the crucial final moments of the match, The World’s Strongest Man took advantage of a distracted Irishman and bowled him over. Bryan followed with a quick three-count to hand the World Heavyweight Champion another dubious loss. The volatile submission specialist celebrated by throwing his referee shirt at Sheamus, who retaliated before Bryan caught him in the excruciating "Yes!" Lock. (PHOTOS)
In a post-match interview, Sheamus warned that he would make Bryan pay in their 2-out-of-3 Falls showdown at Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view. ( MATCH PREVIEW)
But before that happens, Sheamus will have a rematch against Mark Henry on SmackDown. It remains to be seen if Daniel Bryan will involve himself in the contest, but it’s easy to imagine what the former World Heavyweight Champion might say to that: “Yes!”
However, The Great White might not be the only concern for Bryan. After his continued mistreatment of ex-girlfriend AJ on last week's SmackDown caused the disheveled Diva to snap ( WATCH), will their tumultuous situation bring new chaos to Friday night?
