Shawn Michaels (spot No. 18) wins the Royal Rumble Match

Despite a lengthy effort by Triple H, Shawn Michaels became only the second Superstar to ever win multiple Royal Rumble Matches when he won his second consecutive Rumble in 1996. HBK last eliminated former bodyguard Diesel to earn the victory. The final four participants were British Bulldog, Kama, Diesel and Michaels. "The Showstopper" was active throughout the Rumble after entering at No. 18, claiming the most eliminations in that Rumble. This match also marked the debut of Vader, who went face-to-face with fellow big man Yokozuna.
