Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Adam Pearce

Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Adam Pearce

At Royal Rumble, Universal Champion Roman Reigns will go head to head with none other than WWE Official Adam Pearce.

Week after week, Reigns has engineered a steady stream of mayhem on Friday Night SmackDown as The Head of the Table, including most recently attacking Kevin Owens and throwing him off a high ledge and through a table at the WWE ThunderDome on the Jan. 1 edition of the blue brand.

One week after that horrific assault, Reigns called Adam Pearce to the ring to take issue with him making the match between KO and Jey Uso that ended in such unspeakable carnage. Later, Paul Heyman informed Pearce that he had pulled some strings and gotten him added to the Gauntlet Match that the WWE Official had created to determine Reigns’ next challenger at Royal Rumble, a contest pitting Pearce, Rey Mysterio, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, King Corbin and Daniel Bryan against each other in pursuit of a Universal Title opportunity.

Pearce entered the matchup last ready to go up against Shinsuke Nakamura. But before the contest could begin, Reigns and Uso suddenly attacked The Artist. When Reigns threw Pearce into the ring, the unhinged Jey then superkicked him. When Reigns called for the bell, Uso put Pearce on top Nakamura to give him the Gauntlet Match victory. As a result, Pearce will challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble.
