When Trish Stratus won the Women's Championship from Lita in her final match at Unforgiven, it left a major void in the Women's division. Trish retired after her win, which left the Women's Title vacant. The slate was wiped clean and all the RAW Divas were given an opportunity to vie for the championship by entering a tournament.

In the first match of the first round, the action between Lita and Candice Michelle was so hot a fuse blew and the lights in the arena turned off. Lita was able to get the victory after Edge -- the special guest referee in the match -- dropped Candice with a spear.

The second match of the opening round saw Mickie James emerge victorious against Victoria. 

Melina defeated Torrie Wilson in a Lumberjack Rules Match in the third match of round one.

And in the final match of the first round, in a Second Chance All or Nothing Bra and Panties Match, Maria tore off Torrie's clothes off for the win.
