The Champ looks for the three-peat
Tonight on RAW, John Cena will defend the WWE Championship against Triple H. Cena has defeated The Game twice in the last six weeks, leading people to speculate that he has Triple H's number. The Champ, however, doesn't buy into that.
"I'd like to thank the people who think I have his number, but I don't believe it," he said. "It's tough to keep winning every week, week in and week out, which is why you don't see a lot of sports teams go undefeated." Despite not buying the hype, Cena doesn't believe that it's all a matter of luck, either. "I don't want to say I got lucky, because I made him tap at WrestleMania and pinned him at Backlash. That's a rare combo, and if I go three in a row that's a rare find."
Cena has been WWE Champion for most of the last year, and has found a way to keep winning. "I don't think about it, or get caught up in the hype and shove it down people's throats that I'm the champion," he told me. "I fight with pride and passion, because being the WWE Champion is an honor that I enjoy fighting for."
With two victories over Triple H in hand, how is the champion preparing for their third encounter?
"I've never really been much for preparation. You just have to know all of your opponents as well as you can, and I know that Triple H is one of the best. It was a hell of a match at WrestleMania, and again at Backlash. We'll see what happens on RAW."
Triple H sent Cena a message last week, laying the Champ out with a Pedigree; however, Cena isn't fazed by The Game's actions. "That's what he does, I expect nothing less. He not only sent me a message, but did what he could to make sure maybe he has an advantage going into tonight. A lot of what he does is to let you know he can get at you, and there's nothing wrong with trying to sway the odds."
Both Cena and Triple H are ready for the rematch, and the Champ thinks the fans are as well. "Everyone in the crowd will be firmly in one corner, rooting for one of us and booing the other, but I know they're all ready to see us clash again. It's going to be a hell of a rematch."
