Raw kicked off Monday night with the announcement that JBL would challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Backlash. However, with the dust still settling from WrestleMania's aftermath, Triple H and John Cena had no intention of sitting this one out. Each needing to win a Handicap Match, Triple H defeated JBL and WWE Champion Randy Orton, while Cena beat the team of The Game and JBL. The victories secured them both a spot in the main event at Backlash.

On Monday night, Cena's pin finalized a Fatal Four Way Match for the WWE Title. And then, after Raw signed off the air, John Cena's victory was short lived as WWE Mobile on AT&T was there to capture the aftermath that took place.
