Arena Report - The Rose Garden
This week, Raw emanates from the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. The venue hosted the Unforgiven pay-per-view in 2004 where a bloodied Triple H defeated Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Champioship. Both Raw and SmackDown brands have rocked the Rose Garden which can seat over 20,000 WWE fans. When Raw last visited Portland in 2005, Chris Masters shocked the crowd by defeating the legendary Sgt. Slaughter.
The Rose Garden is the permanent home of the Trail Blazers NBA franchise, the Western Hockey League’s Winter Hawks and the National Lacrosse League’s Lumberjax. In addition to sporting events, the arena has hosted music acts like Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nine Inch Nails, as well as other events like monster truck rallies and trade shows.
The birthplace of notable figures including Matt Groening (the creator of The Simpsons), author Beverly Cleary and WWE’s own “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Portland is one of only two cities in the continental United States to have an extinct volcano within its city limits. A popular destination for skiers and snowboarders, Portland also boasts more microbreweries than any other city.
For a look inside the Rose Garden, catch Raw tonight at the special time of 8/7 CT on the USA Network.
