Rallying around the extreme

Today in Detroit, WWE held a fan rally to promote WrestleMania 23. The event will happen on April 1, 2007 at Ford Field, and Superstars from RAW and SmackDown weren’t the only ones present to pump up the fans. Today’s rally also had a bit of an extreme feel, as ECW World Champion Big Show and gorgeous exhibitionist Kelly Kelly were on hand as well.

Big Show, who was victorious at this past WrestleMania, told the fans that WrestleMania 23 is “definitely going to be extreme.” The ECW Champion then said he can’t wait to come to Detroit to honor the legacy of one of the men who was involved in the main event the last time WrestleMania was in Detroit.

“Of all the venues we’ve worked all over the world in my 12 years, there’s one thing I’ve always wanted to be a part of: WrestleMania in Detroit,” he told the fans. “A great giant of the past, Andre The Giant, fought Hulk Hogan here in Detroit (at WrestleMania III). I only hope that I can try to fill his shoes, and give Detroit everything that Andre gave you guys. I want to give that to you as your ECW Champion. So at WrestleMania 23…as your ECW Champion now, and as your ECW Champion on April 1, I’m going to give you an extreme giant like you’ve never seen.”

And as mentioned earlier, Kelly was also in the house. As Okerlund tried to introduce Randy Orton, Kelly’s entrance music filled the airwaves at Ford Field. The stunning blonde tried to dance with “Mean” Gene, but he asked Kelly if they could continue it later. That unfortunately meant no Expose for the great fans at Ford Field, but I have a feeling their disappointment will be short-lived.

All in all, the fans in Detroit got their first taste of the mania of WrestleMania today...and there’s only a couple hundred more to go before WrestleMania 23 gets extreme on April 1, 2007.
