ECW goes Broadway

On Monday, Sept. 11, ECW will finally go Broadway. Well, technically 8th Avenue, but the metaphor still holds up. That night, ECW will be live in the Mecca of sports-entertainment, New York City’s Madison Square Garden, for the very first time. The event will be a taping of ECW on Sci Fi, which will be broadcast on the following night.

While Philadelphia will always be considered ECW’s “home,” New York City is definitely its home away from home. On June 12, 2005, ECW was revived as the first One Night Stand was held in the Hammerstein Ballroom, which is literally right around the corner from MSG. One year later, ECW was re-born at the second One Night Stand, and the first ECW on Sci Fi was held in nearby Trenton, N.J.

Now, for the first time ever, the Extremists and Vixens of ECW will invade the World’s Most Famous Arena. The crowd in New York City always takes things to the extreme, and this should be no exception. From Hulk Hogan defeating Iron Sheik for the WWE Championship to Chris Benoit winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XX, MSG has seen its share of memorable moments. The first editions of WrestleMania and SummerSlam emanated from MSG, and now ECW will finally add its name to that legacy on Sept. 11.

Tickets are on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to be at this historic television event. Find out how to get tickets here.
