'WWE '13': AJ Lee talks DLC

"WWE '13": AJ Lee makes her WWE video game debut

AJ Lee makes her WWE video game debut as part of "WWE '13."

Thanks to the latest DLC Pack from THQ ( FULL DETAILS), AJ Lee is now a playable character in “WWE ’13.” The former Raw General Manager sits down with WWE.com to talk about video games ... and John Cena.

WWE.COM: DLC was released last week. It’s your first time ever in a video game. How would you rate THQ’s recreation of AJ Lee in digital form?

AJ LEE: I think it’s pretty spot-on. My gear and everything is almost the exact same thing. She’s almost a little bit more generously proportioned than I am — not that I’m complaining. It’s just so bizarre — she has my actual hair and she looks exactly like me. It’s so strange and surreal to actually see it and to not have to create the character myself, as I’ve spent many hours making myself as a CAW [Create-A-Wrestler] in previous games!

WWE.COM: Now that you’ve had the chance to play as yourself in the game, what can you say about the moveset? Is what video game AJ Lee does accurate to what real AJ Lee does in the ring?

AJ LEE: Well, she has a wicked slap and a little “YES!” chant. She has my signature moves, like Sliced Bread, a spin kick and the Shining Wizard. It’s so bizarre to see that she actually has that stuff in there.

Also, she walks a little weird — she kind of walks with my “penguin walk,” so that’s cool!

WWE.COM: “Penguin walk”?

AJ LEE: Yeah, I have a really kind of awkward walk about me, and she has it and I like it.

WWE.COM: This DLC Pack includes an interesting mix of Superstars and Divas. We’re getting you, and we’re getting Ryback. We can’t think of two more different sides of the spectrum. What’s it like to be in a DLC Pack with Ryback?

AJ LEE: I feel like [Ryback and I] are more similar than people think. We’re both misunderstood, and people tend to be afraid of us for some reason, which is odd. But it’s cool, because you get the best of both worlds. I’d like to challenge Ryback to a match — in real life — just to see. I think I could take him, but I wonder how Ryback would react to getting slapped.

WWE.COM: In a 2011 interview, John Cena said you were a gamer to watch in WWE. ( FULL INTERVIEW)

AJ LEE: Oh, really?

WWE.COM: We did an interview about “WWE All Stars,” and while he admitted he wasn’t the best gamer, he said you and Kofi Kingston were the ones to watch. Have you gotten a chance to show Cena any moves?

AJ LEE: [Nervous laughter] I’ve shown him a lot of moves, but he’s probably not a better gamer.

WWE.COM: OK well, anyway ... Why should your fans pick up this DLC Pack?

AJ LEE: Well, WWE Universe members should get all of the DLC Packs because it’s cool to have the whole roster, but for me, I’m obviously going to buy this one because it’s a dream come true, and what I’ve wanted my whole life. It’s sentimental, I think. They should get [video game AJ Lee] for sentimental reasons, even if she’s not the strongest [character] in the game.

And, maybe we’ll also figure out a way to make her skip eventually.

WWE.COM: It’s been a huge year for you. You were Raw’s General Manager, this month you’re getting your action figure, you have a DLC — what’s next for you?

AJ LEE: There’s definitely a list of things I’d like to do. But there’s been a lot of things I hadn’t even thought would have been possible to do that I’d been able to do, so I think I’ll surprise myself and keep breaking that glass ceiling to see what’s next. Hopefully people get surprised — that’s my main goal.
