WWE Studios cruises for comedy

As first reported by Nikki Finke’s Deadline.com, WWE Studios has teamed with producer Edward R. Pressman and Blum-Hanson-Allen Films to greenlight the action comedy, “Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’.” In the film, criminals and a crooked senator murder the mentor of two rogue ex-cops, prompting them to band together and seek revenge. The picture will be written and directed by Sundance Film Festival veteran Adam Bhala Lough.

“As we continue to seek out key creative and strategic partnerships to broaden our release slate, the opportunity for WWE Studios to work with producers like Ed Pressman and Jason Blum, and their talented executive teams, was a natural fit for us,” WWE Studios president Michael Luisi said. Pressman, Scott Hanson and Luisi will serve as producers on “Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’,” with Blum, Jon Allen and Pressman Films’ COO Jon Katz as executive producers.

The new venture fits with WWE Studios’ other upcoming comedies, including the ABC Family TV movie “Christmas Bounty,” featuring The Miz, and WWE’s partnership with Warner Bros. for an animated Scooby-Doo feature. WWE Studios’ Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs Bradley Buchanan negotiated the “Cruisin’ ” deal with Debbie Von Arx for Blum-Hanson-Allen Films, and Katz on behalf of the Edward R. Pressman Film Corporation.
