Dana Davis of 'Heroes' talks about the 619
The 619 saved the day on this week's episode of Heroes. On the hit NBC show, Monica (played by Dana Davis) has a special superpower -- she is able to replicate anything she sees on television, and she copycats Rey Mysterio's 619. WWE.com interviewed Davis about her 619 experience on Heroes. Below is the e-mail transcript.
Are you a WWE fan?
Honestly, when I was a little girl, I would watch wrestling with my brother, like, all the time. The Ultimate Warrior was my favorite. I used the have the biggest crush on him! Then when I got older I got into it again because I have a 12-year-old nephew and he absolutely adores WWE. He will throw a small fit if he misses it on Monday. When he found out I was going be on Heroes he actually said, "Don't tell me it comes on Monday nights because that's when Raw is on." So I've become a fan, so I can talk about it with my little nephew. It's fun.
Were you familiar with Rey Mysterio and the 619 before reading the script?
I was familiar with Rey Mysterio, but not the 619. My nephew had to get me up to speed. His eyes got all big and he was like, "You are gonna do a 619!"
How hard was it to perform the 619?
Well… I had a lot of help. Monica has quite a few stunt doubles to help in a pinch. The 619 you saw was performed by a stuntwoman named Natascha Hopkins who just so happens to be my same height and weight, and is a killer gymnast.
How did the 619 save the day?
Well, the producers were looking for a long time for the perfect WWE wrestling move. They wanted it to be complicated and something exciting to watch. It was pretty exciting to watch the footage. You can't help but be in awe of the athletic abilities of the WWE Superstars. It was the perfect move for Monica to replicate, and it created quite a big bang, too. The Heroes fans have absolutely loved it. Seriously, it's created quite a buzz. I mean c'mon… using Rey Mysterio's move to kick a bad guy through glass?? It can't get much better than that!
Do you think Monica will be inspired again by WWE?
I hope so!! There's certainly so much to be inspired by. I think Monica should just sit and watch old Bruce Lee movies and WWE and then she should take over the world.
