SmackDown and ECW go to New Zealand
SmackDown and ECW Superstars landed in Christchurch to kick off their New Zealand tour. WWE fans waited in the airport to welcome them as they arrived.
ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley and Kelly Kelly took part in the tour's first event. Each attended autograph sessions at Northlands Mall. Over 1,000 Christchurch WWE fans waited for up to five hours. The wait proved to be worth it, as many of those people took photos with them and received personalized autographs.
"The fans chanted my name. It was awesome," said Kelly, who was supported by her own cheering section throughout the session.
The event marked only the second autograph session Kelly has ever attended. Lashley, on the other hand, has toured in New Zealand before.
"I love the energy of the New Zealand crowd," he said. "I know from experience that New Zealand WWE fans have a lot of energy."
