The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) wants to help travellers find the information they need to know in order to visit Canada.

If you are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, you do not need a passport or visa to enter Canada. However, you should carry proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, certificate of naturalization, or permanent resident (green) card.

Visitors to Canada can bring certain goods into Canada as their "personal baggage", including clothing, camping and sports equipment, cameras, recorders and even personal computers. Upon entering Canada, however, visitors are required to report all goods in their possession, including monetary instruments in excess of $10,000.00. The importation of firearms and weapons into Canada is prohibited, and other goods may be controlled or restricted.
