Lashley and Kristal SmackDown the Pentagon
On Tuesday, SmackDown Superstars Bobby Lashley and Kristal visited the Pentagon outside Washington, D.C. Inside the Headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense, Lashley and Kristal were treated to a tour of the building and an army defense briefing before stopping to sign autographs and take photos with some of the Pentagon's finest.
Lashley, who is a former Army Sergeant, spoke to the Army's Crisis Action Team about his three-year stint in the military. Of course, not wanting Kristal to feel left out, Lashley also presented her credentials.
"Kristal here is a former Barker's Beauty (on The Price is Right), so you might want to ask her about that," he joked.
The final stop was a tour of the 9/11 Memorial, an exhibit remembering the lives that were given when the Pentagon was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. Lashley, who had been to the Pentagon previously but not visited the memorial, said that this was an experience he'll always remember.
"It was kind of surreal," he told me. To see all the people who lost their lives in that tragic incident…just surreal."
Lashley and Kristal were also given gifts to commemorate their visit, as both received a Crisis Action Team commemorative coin. They were both also the recipients of an even more special gift; as we prepared to exit the building, our tour escort presented everyone with a piece of limestone from where the Pentagon was attacked on 9/11. WWE was also presented with an authentic flag that had flown over the Pentagon.
And of course, no visit would be complete without sampling the local cuisine. Inside the building it's almost like a mini-city, complete with shops, banks and restaurants. Before heading out, both Lashley and Kristal stopped to get a piece of pizza at one of the restaurants…and of course, both gave it a rave review.
"The rise of the dough, the fresh ingredients…tremendous!" Lashley joked.
After the visit, both Lashley and Kristal were both appreciative and awe-struck at their tour of the Pentagon.
"It was a great experience; to learn about everything that's going on overseas with our troops," Lashley said. "I'm a big supporter of the military, being in the Army and all. I grew up in the military (Lashley's father was a Military Policeman) as well so it's an honor to be here and meet some of the top people in the military chain of command."
Kristal added that "there are so many different things that go on in the Pentagon that I had no idea about. My dad was in the Navy for 20 years, so it was nice to see the central nerve center of it all. It was unreal."
And of course, with both being military children, they couldn't wait to brag to their fathers about being at the Pentagon.
"I'm actually going to call him as soon as I can and tell him about it; I think he'll be excited," Kristal told me.
Lashley agreed, saying "I told him about it last time I was here, and he was really happy…I'm sure he will be this time too."
