Improv is Jericho

While he hasn't stepped inside the squared circle in nine months, Chris Jericho is keeping himself plenty busy. On Thursday, May 18, the "Ayatollah of Rock N Roll-ah" will once again become the rage on the stage.

After receiving rave reviews for his two appearances in April, Jericho has been invited to become a regular guest of The Groundlings, a Los Angeles-based improv comedy troupe. Jericho will join them on May 18 for their weekly "Cookin' with Gas" improv show. The Groundlings boast such alumni as former Saturday Night Live stars Will Ferrell and Phil Hartman, as well as former Friends star Lisa Kudrow; when I talked to Jericho this past weekend, he was thrilled to be in such company. "It's an honor and a challenge to be performing regularly with the greatest American comedy troupe of all-time," he told me. "It's also a great feeling to know that I can hold my own with these comedic geniuses, making people laugh on the same stage where Will Ferrell, Phil Hartman, Cheri Oteri and so many others have performed."

"Cookin' with Gas" is just the tip of the iceberg for Jericho. He will also be appearing on the VH1 documentary "Heavy -- The Story of Metal" in late-May, and will be co-starring in the Sci-Fi Network original movie "Android Apocalypse," which premieres on Saturday, June 24 at 9 p.m. ET. All that leads up to his live theatre debut this July in Toronto, which you can read more about here.
