MILWAUKEE — Fresh off a falling out with Rusev, Jinder Mahal showcased some newfound aggression as he battled Cesaro at WWE Fastlane. However, the Punjabi Superstar’s return to singles competition ultimately proved unsuccessful thanks to a distraction from The Bulgarian Brute.
After a savage brawl with his former friend, The Super Athlete, before the bout, Mahal was more than ready for his mystery opponent, The Swiss Superman. In an unscheduled match ordered by Raw General Manager Mick Foley, the self-professed “Man Who Comes in Peace” seemed to surprise Cesaro with his raw power, which was only seldom seen during his ill-fated tag team tenure with Rusev. Unfortunately for Mahal, it was that association that would be his downfall.
As Mahal was momentarily distracted by his stewing former tag team partner at ringside, he made himself easy prey to Cesaro’s Very European Uppercut, which put Mahal down for the three-count.
If that wasn’t enough, Rusev attacked the defeated Mahal and dazed his former ally with a superkick. Don’t cry for Jinder, however. Retribution for Rusev would come immediately in the form of a surprise match with Big Show. Spoiler alert: It didn’t end well.
