The wait is over. WWE 2K18 is finally here!
The most anticipated video game in the WWE Universe is now available worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. WWE fans can get their copy right now from their favorite retailer or via digital download.
What’s new in 2K’s latest addition to its venerated WWE video game series? Here are 10 things the WWE Universe can look forward to in WWE 2K18 when they step into the virtual ring on their favorite gaming consoles.
Fans looking for WWE 2K18 on stores shelves just need to keep an eye out for The Kingslayer, who was named the game’s cover Superstar in June.
The choice of Seth Rollins, as unique and accomplished a Superstar as any to ever step between the ropes, should remind fans to choose their own paths to glory in this WWE video game. Or, to borrow the game’s official slogan: Be like no one.
The WWE 2K18 roster reveal, which took place in August and September, added what is easily the largest and most anticipated playable character roster to date. From WWE Legends to today’s most popular Superstars to the debuting grapplers of NXT and WWE 205 Live, there is no shortage of options to play with or against in WWE 2K18.
Your eyes are not deceiving you. 2K put a special emphasis on a new graphics engine that make the Superstars of WWE 2K18 look and feel as authentic as those that compete on Raw and SmackDown LIVE. To further capture their essence, 2K also provided a slew of new animations based on how Superstars move to make the in-game playable characters carry themselves like the genuine article. Many of these new attributes will come into play in the WWE 2K18 Creation Suite, where players can created their own virtual Superstars.
The increase in active playable Superstars in WWE 2K18 means players can make their battles bigger and better than ever. From Eight-Man Tag Team Matches to more Battle Royal and Royal Rumble Match entrants, the possibilities are endless.
The all-new Road to Glory mode in WWE 2K18 offers a new opportunity for players to test their might against the rest of the WWE Universe.
In Road to Glory, fans can send their created Superstars, called MyPlayers, into a multiplayer online experience where they can compete against others to gain Superstar attributes, features and more. MyPlayers compete on weekly schedules and fight their way into marquee pay-per-view events, earning boosts and bragging rights along the way.
Whereas Road to Glory is an all-new online experience, the popular MyCareer mode also underwent substantial changes. MyCareer fans can roam freely backstage with their MyPlayers and participate in unique stories determined by a player’s penchant for being a “Company Man” or “Fan Favorite.”
Those looking for a more immersive Universe Mode experience will not be disappointed in WWE 2K18. 2K added new ways to ignite rivalries and sustain their intensity, allowing for bouts to become as heated as players can handle. Universe Mode players can also compete on a calendar that is more closely aligned with WWE’s weekly schedule, all the while trying to dominate an all-new Power Rankings feature and their individual list of goals.
Finally, The Rock has come back to WWE 2K18 … as an executive producer as well as a playable character. The Most Electrifying Man in All of Entertainment personally curated the in-game soundtrack with Apple Music, adding an electric mix of tunes that covers everybody from Bruno Mars to The Blues Brothers.
The official launch of WWE 2K18 may be upon us, but 2K still has more in store for the WWE Universe. This year’s DLC offerings will allow fans to add the likes of The Hardy Boyz and Aleister Black to the playable roster, employ a new set of moves in the ring or give their MyPlayers a kick start.
While WWE 2K18 is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, there’s still one more milestone for 2K to reach with this year’s game: This year’s WWE video game will be available on Nintendo Switch for the first time ever later this fall.
