WWE tops 200 million followers on social media

WWE announced that it has crossed the 200 million followers milestone on social media, combining the followings of its social media footprint on 11 major social networks. This includes the more than 130 million WWE fans who follow WWE brand pages and Superstars’ pages on Facebook, and more than 70 million followers for WWE and its Superstars on Twitter.

WWE’s social media following has grown 70% in 12 months, and is ranked by Klout as one of the most influential brands in all of social media.

Other notable WWE social media milestones, as reported by FanPageList.com, include:

  • John Cena is currently the seventh-most followed athlete in the world on Facebook, and the third-most followed American athlete, behind only Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan.  Cena has more Facebook followers than any single athlete from the NHL, MLB, NFL, NASCAR, PGA or UFC.
  • Nineteen WWE Superstars rank in the Top 100 most-followed athletes on Facebook.
  • WWE is among the top 10 most-followed sports teams, brands or leagues in the world on Facebook.
  • Fourteen WWE Superstars have Twitter followings of more than 1 million followers.
  • Thirty-six WWE Superstars have Twitter followings of 500,000 followers or more. Eighty-six WWE Superstars have more than 100,000 followers on Twitter.
  • WWE is one of only 11 brands/celebrities in social media with a perfect “99” influence rating on Klout.com. This group includes such top names as Britney Spears, the Associated Press, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, YouTube and President Barack Obama.
