Jinder Mahal meets “Master Blaster” Sachin Tendulkar in India

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal meets cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar

Jinder Mahal's return home to India this weekend – his first trip back since becoming WWE Champion – has garnered much national attention, especially following his surprise visit earlier today to the home of cricket legend and politician Sachin Tendulkar.

Mahal is traveling around Mumbai and New Delhi this weekend to meet with media and members of the WWE Universe, and promote WWE’s Live Events in New Delhi Dec. 8 and 9. He visited Tendulkar and his teenage son (and huge WWE fan), Arjun, gifted them with some "Modern Day Maharaja" T-shirts and personally invited them to the Live Events taking place at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Tendulkar is to cricket as Michael Jordan is to basketball. The stats the “Master Blaster” accrued over his 24 years playing the sport make him arguably the greatest batsman and runmaker of all time. Besides scoring more runs than any other player in an unprecedented six Cricket World Cup appearances, Tendulkar remains the leading run scorer in Tests (15,291 runs) and One-Day Internationals (18,426 runs), and stands as the only player to score more than 30,000 runs in all forms of international cricket. He also holds the record for the highest number of centuries in both Tests (51) and ODIs (49), as well as in Tests and ODIs combined (100). In 2012, Tendulkar was nominated to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India.

The WWE Champion presented Tendulkar and his son with an invitation to the Dec. 8 and 9 Live Events in grand fashion, in the form of a personalized, oversized ticket. It was a great honor that Mahal fondly recounted on Twitter shortly after the meeting:

The Master Blaster himself also posted his appreciation for Mahal's visit and invitation to the WWE Live Events:
