The King, Once and Always

WWE fans know “The King” from his two decades at the Raw broadcast booth , but Jerry Lawler had a legendary career before stepping foot in a WWE ring. In 1974, he defeats his trainer and mentor Jackie Fargo in Chattanooga, Tenn. for the NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship, and the title “King of Wrestling.” Lawler adopts the royal persona that night, which remains to this day.
