WrestleMania X8 - Trish goes for the gold in her hometown
WrestleMania X8 was in Trish Stratus' hometown of Toronto, and she had a chance to walk out of SkyDome as Women's Champion when she met Lita and reigning champion Jazz in a Triple Threat Match. And in celebration of her hometown appearance, Trish came to the ring clad in wrestling attire adorned with Canada's revered Maple Leaf.
Lita and Trish were more allies than adversaries at this point in their rivalry, and they teamed up to take it to the champion early. Jazz would eventually fight them off, and the three Divas took turns brutalizing each other throughout the bout.
Towards the end of the match, it appeared Trish had Jazz beat following a DDT. However, Lita broke it up and nailed Trish with a Twist of Fate, looking to get the win herself. However, Trish avoided Lita's moonsault attempt, and it looked as if Stratus was in control again.
But as Lita and Trish fought on the ropes, Jazz knocked Lita off and nailed her with a vicious Jazz Stinger off the top rope. Trish was unable to break up the pinfall, and Jazz was victorious to retain the Championship.
Even though Trish was unable to walk away from the gold, performing at WrestleMania in her hometown still ranks as one of her favorite WWE moments.
