Survivor Series 2001 - Trish wins her first Women's Championship
At Survivor Series 2001, Trish Stratus received her first big chance at the Women's Championship. The championship was vacant at the time, and Commissioner Regal put it up for grabs in a Six-Pack Challenge at Survivor Series. To win the gold, Trish would have to fight off Lita, Ivory, Mighty Molly, Jacqueline, and a mystery opponent.
At Survivor Series, the mystery entrant turned out to be Jazz, and the challenge was on. After starting the match on the outside, Trish was tagged in by Jacqueline. Trish took Ivory down, but soon found herself on the receiving end of a triple-team from Ivory, Jazz and Molly.
Lita & Jacqueline then entered the ring, and a six-way melee broke out. Ivory hit Poison Ivory on Trish, but Lita made the save by hitting Ivory with a Twist of Fate. Lita then knocked Molly to the floor, but Trish quickly backdropped Lita over the top rope, sending her to the floor as well. Trish then sent Jazz to join them, pulling down the top rope as Jazz charged at her. With four of the opponents all outside the ring, Trish nailed Ivory with Stratusfaction and covered her, getting the pin to win her first Women’s Championship.
In just 18 months, Trish Stratus had gone from hated manager to beloved Diva, climbing the mountain to become Women’s Champion for the first time. With the fans on her side and championship gold around her waist, Trish Stratus took her first steps toward becoming perhaps the greatest WWE Diva of all time.
