Match Recap

WrestleMania XX - Undertaker vs. Kane

At Survivor Series 2003, Kane helped Mr. McMahon defeat Undertaker in a Buried Alive match. While Kane sided with the WWE Chairman to help him send the Deadman to an early grave, he really only angered his brother. At the 2004 Royal Rumble, Undertaker "returned" and began to play mind games with Kane. As the No. 13 entrant, Spike Dudley, was set to enter the match, the lights went out and Undertaker's familiar gong was heard. This distracted Kane, causing him to be blindsided and eliminated from the match. After weeks of the mind games, Undertaker challenged Kane to a match at WrestleMania XX. The Big Red Monster accepted, and the two were set to square off in an inter-promotional RAW vs. SmackDown showdown.

Prior to the match, the familiar druids began to march to ringside, carrying flaming torches. Finally, after nearly four months, the Deadman made his return, reunited with former manager Paul Bearer for the first time in eight years. It was clear that Undertaker had the psychological advantage, as Kane could not believe that his brother had returned.

The two monsters slugged it out early, brawling in the ring and spilling out onto the floor. Undertaker hit his signature legdrop off the apron, but once back inside the ring, Kane blocked a Last Ride and took control of the match. The Big Red Monster put the Deadman down with a big boot and proceeded to pound away on his brother.

The two brawled back and forth some more, and Kane hit the Deadman with a chokeslam. However, instead of covering Undertaker, Kane chose to taunt the fallen Deadman. Undertaker then sat up, much to Kane's chagrin, and that was the beginning of the end. The Deadman hit Kane with a flying clothesline and chokeslam before nailing the Tombstone Piledriver, and that was enough to put down the Big Red Monster for the pinfall.

With the victory, Undertaker ran his record to 12-0 at WrestleMania, including 2-0 against Kane and 1-0 in inter-promotional matches.
