WrestleMania X-Seven - Undertaker vs. Triple H

Heading into WrestleMania X-Seven, Undertaker was looking for an opponent for the biggest show of the year. On the March 8, 2001 edition of SmackDown, he found one. Triple H stood in the ring, saying that he had done it all, and that he had no one left to beat in WWE. Undertaker took offense to this statement and made his way to the ring, telling Triple H that he had never beaten him. Undertaker then challenged the game for WrestleMania X-Seven, and after a couple weeks of mind games, the match was on.

Throughout the match, the two men brawled all over the arena. Undertaker put Triple H through the Spanish announcers’ table at one point, but Triple H was able to gain control back inside the ring. The Game went for his sledgehammer early, but the referee stopped him, and the Deadman made a comeback. The referee was knocked out momentarily, and after Undertaker chokeslammed Triple H, the groggy referee’s slow count allowed Triple H to kick out of the pinfall. Undertaker then assaulted the referee, taking him out of the match, and The Game and the Deadman brawled to the floor.

The two men then headed up towards the entranceway, ending up where the technical equipment was set up. Triple H nailed the Deadman with several chairshots, but Undertaker kept coming, and they ended up on a scaffold. Undertaker grabbed Triple H, chokeslamming him off the scaffold to the floor nearly 10 feet below. Undertaker then followed him down with an elbowdrop, and brought The Game back to the ring to try to finish him off.

Back in the ring, Undertaker tried to use Triple H’s sledgehammer, but The Game used a low blow to avoid it. Undaunted, the Deadman nailed The Game with a Tombstone, but the referee was still knocked out. Undertaker then went for the Last Ride instead, but Triple H had possession of the sledgehammer and nailed the Deadman right between the eyes. Triple H made a cover as the referee finally recovered, but Undertaker kicked out before the three count. Triple H then brought Undertaker to the corner, and climbed the ropes to pound away. Instead, the Deadman grabbed The Game, stepped out of the corner, and hit a second Last Ride. This time, it was enough, and Undertaker pinned Triple H to make it 9-0 and WrestleMania.
