Steve Austin

November 16, 2003 - Survivor Series - Randy Orton ends Stone Cold's tenure as co-RAW General Manager

In a 5-on-5 classic Survivor Series Match at Survivor Series 2003, Randy Orton temporarily ended the sports-entertainment career of legend Stone Cold Steve Austin. Thanks to Orton, Austin’s run as co-General Manager of RAW finished on Nov. 16, 2003, at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas.

It was Team Bischoff vs. Team Austin, as the co-General Managers of RAW put their fates into the hands of two five-man teams. Team Bischoff consisted of Christian, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, Randy Orton and Scott Steiner; while Team Austin was Booker T, The Dudleys, Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam.

Team Austin started strong, as Booker T took out Steiner, but Henry quickly eliminated Booker T from the match for Team Bischoff. The Dudleys and RVD retaliated by making Henry the third to go. The Legend Killer got back at Team Austin by taking down RVD with a RKO, making RVD the fourth man eliminated. Team Bischoff continued to dominate as Chris Jericho eliminated D-Von Dudley and Christian got rid of Bubba Ray Dudley. With just four men left in the Elimination Match, it was Austin’s HBK vs. Bischoff’s Jericho, Christian and Orton.

Michaels put up a big fight, even after Christian smashed HBK’s head into the ring post, causing him to bleed profusely. HBK came back to take out Christian, and then Jericho, while The Legend Killer lay outside the ring. Orton crawled back in, and Austin and Bischoff joined the melee. Austin went after Orton, but with the referee down, Orton’s Evolution teammate, Batista, came to the ring. After he nailed HBK with a Batista Bomb, The Legend Killer ultimately was able to crawl on top of Michaels to pin him for the win.

As a result, Team Bischoff was victorious and he was named sole General Manager of RAW. Orton had effectively killed the legend of Stone Cold Steve Austin in his home state, successfully living up to his name of WWE’s Legend Killer yet again.
