Matt Striker's Word of the Week for 10/31/06

Hello, my students. It is I, Matt Striker, and I am here to impart great erudition in another edition of ECW.com's featured column, the Word of the Week. For this week's lesson, we examine an especially appropriate word for Extreme Championship Wrestling. This week's word is:

Chicanery (shi-key-nuh-ree)
1. trickery or deception by quibbling or sophistry
2. a quibble or subterfuge used to trick, deceive, or evade

Double dealing. Stratagem. Here we have youths marauding, impostering, engaging in tatterdemalion on All Hallow's Eve. Children threaten further chicanery if homeowners do not allow them to embezzle sugary, tooth-rotting junk food from them.

Allow me to rearticulate to better accommodate the simple mind of the typical ECW enthusiast. Chicanery is a strategy that is usually sneaky and sly. I will now provide you with an ECW-relevant sentence for this week's word:

While ECW has-beens like Sandman and Sabu don't possess the competence to outsmart an opponent, those no-talent elders have to rely on cheap shots and chicanery to win a match. When used properly, chicanery can be the ultimate form of intelligence; however, it is hard to expect that level of aptitude from certain so-called Extremists.

That concludes this week's lesson. Make sure to check back next week after ECW on Sci Fi for another rousing edition of the Word of the Week with me, Matt Striker, your teacher.
