Survivor Series 2002 - Elimination Chamber Match
At the 2002 Survivor Series, Shawn Michaels took on Rob Van Dam, Kane, Booker T, Chris Jericho and defending champion Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship in the first-ever Elimination Chamber Match. Despite spending most of the previous four years out of wrestling due to a severe back injury, Michaels overcame the odds to win the match, walking out of Madison Square Garden as the new World Heavyweight Champion.
Michaels was the last man to enter the match, coming into the ring at the 20-minute mark with only Kane, Jericho and Triple H still in the match. Very quickly, HBK hit Sweet Chin Music on Kane, who was eliminated moments later by a Pedigree from Triple H. Following Kane’s elimination, Jericho and Triple H teamed up against the fresh Michaels, quickly busting him open by sending him into the steel cage. For the next several minutes, the three men threw everything they had at one another, with Jericho eventually getting Triple H in the Walls of Jericho. That gave Michaels the opportunity to give Y2J a little Sweet Chin Music, eliminating him from the match.
That left former friends Michaels and Triple H as the last two men in the match, and Triple H nailed a quick spinebuster to take control. After sending Shawn crashing into the Plexiglas wall of one of the chambers, Triple H went for the Pedigree, but was catapulted into the corner himself. Shawn then hit a flying elbow and went for Sweet Chin Music, but Triple H blocked the move, nailing Shawn with a Pedigree instead.
However, Triple H chose to taunt Michaels instead of covering him, and only got a two count when he finally made the pinfall attempt. Triple H then went for another Pedigree, but Michaels blocked the move, sent Triple H into the ropes, and nailed him with Sweet Chin Music. HBK then made the cover, getting the three count to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
