World Championship Reign No. 1

SummerSlam – August 15, 2004

Though molded and refined by two of the greatest names in the history of the squared circle, Randy Orton came to SummerSlam 2004 without Triple H and Ric Flair at his side. Rather, The Legend Killer approached his opportunity as one lone individual intent on achieving the most remarkable accomplishment any young Superstar could ever dream.

The RKO, the same weapon used to "Legend Kill" became the very armament to complete Orton's evolution and cement the foundation of his own legend as the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history.

No Mercy – October 7, 2007

It was Randy Orton's attack that ultimately sidelined then-titleholder John Cena in late 2007, leaving the WWE Championship without an owner heading into No Mercy. Just moments into the pay-per-view, however, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon addressed this situation and awarded the gold to Cena's attacker: The Viper. But Orton's reign was short-lived as Triple H intervened, leading to an impromptu defense by the newly crowned champion, who lost the title on the spot to The Game.

No Mercy – October 7, 2007

Twice in one night at No Mercy, The Viper's coils constricted the WWE Championship, his sequestered property. In a decisive Last Man Standing Match, The Legend Killer felled his former Evolution master to claim the WWE Title and kindle a new "Age of Orton."

Backlash – April 26, 2009

Once more, Randy Orton found himself in contention with The Cerebral Assassin, but this time in a most unusual circumstance with significant consequences. Captaining his Legacy into battle, Orton would regain the title if his team could defeat their opposition: WWE Champion Triple H, Batista & Shane McMahon. The ill cohesion of The Game's squad enabled The Legend Killer to execute an RKO and subsequent skull punt for the title-clinching victory.

Monday Night Raw – June 15, 2009

A Fatal Four Way Match proved fortuitous for The Viper on an appropriately championship themed edition of a tri-branded Monday Night Raw. In a scenario now quite familiar to Randy Orton (who attacked and injured new WWE Champion Batista the week before), the gold was vacated and in need of a possessor. On this mild summer night, the WWE Title would land in the cold hands of The Legend Killer, who endured John Cena, Triple H and the RKO-collapsed Big Show to attain his fifth World Championship.

Hell in a Cell - October 4, 2009

At the first-ever WWE pay-per-view that sadistically celebrated the steel entrapment known as Hell in a Cell, The Viper proved that the cold of his blood pales in comparison to the potency of his venom. Callous and malicious, Randy Orton reclaimed the WWE Title from John Cena after constricting his rival within his coils, then rattling the defending champion's skull with The Legend Killer's lethal punt.
