standard text messaging rates – see How Do I Vote Using Text
Messaging? for more details. There is no charge for online voting.
Voting by Text Message on your wireless phone - What is Text
Messaging/ SMS?
Text Messaging – sometimes known as SMS (short messaging service) -
is a way of communicating short messages via your wireless phone. Most (but
not all) handsets have this feature. For Favorite Diva, use your wireless
phone keypad to write the keyword message and then send it to 86946.
You will be charged $0.99 per vote plus standard text messaging
rates. Remember, you may only vote up to 10 times for per voting
method per number. If you try to vote more often, your votes will not
be counted. The wireless carriers participating are T-Mobile, Verizon
Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Dobson.
How do I vote using Text Messaging?
Each Diva will be assigned a keyword. To vote by text, when prompted
by the host who will state when voting is open, input the promoted keyword
into a new text message on your cell phone and send this message to the
86946 short number. If done correctly, you will receive a message
confirming your vote. Remember, you may only vote up to 10 times per
voting method per number. If you try to vote more often, your votes
will not be counted.
Text message voting will stay open Monday 10:00pm (ET) to the following Monday 3:00am (ET). Votes sent outside of the voting window will be invalid, and you will not receive a confirmation message.
The wireless carriers participating are T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Dobson.
How do I know my vote has been counted?
Your message
will have been counted if you are a Wireless subscriber from a
participating carrier and text your vote during your valid voting window
and receive your confirmation message. You will receive a
confirmation for each valid vote that you cast. If you vote more than
10 times per vote method per number, your additional votes will not
count.
How much does it cost to vote via text message?
The cost of voting for wireless subscribers varies depending on your
carrier’s Text Messaging Package. You will be charged $0.99 for
each valid text vote that you cast, plus standard text message rates.
When I tried to vote, my handset said 'message not sent' -
why?
Text Messaging network is designed to handle huge volumes of votes
simultaneously, there may be times (particularly just after the show) when
it will not be able to handle every message due to network
congestion. When this happens, ‘message not sent’ will
appear on your handset. Please be patient and try again later.
And, don’t forget to vote within your time zone’s voting
window!
Also, check yours is one of the participating carriers: T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel and Dobson.
