This was the main event of last year's Armageddon.  JBL had been WWE Champion since defeating Eddie Guerrero at The Great American Bash and was on a roll.  But the deck was stacked against him as he didn't even have to be pinned to lose the gold.  Heidenreich also made an appearance in this match, but would it have an effect on the outcome?
