WWE NXT results - July 31, 2014: Tyson Kidd tries to end Adam Rose's party, tag teams prepare for No. 1 Contenders' Tournament

WWE NXT: July 31, 2014

ORLANDO, Fla. — It was a party on WWE NXT, as Adam Rose returned to answer the challenge of Tyson Kidd! Plus, a tournament to crown the No. 1 Contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships was announced, leaving The Ascension to send a message to anyone daring enough to challenge them. Two very different teams made a case for why they should be in the tournament, as the makeshift pair of Mojo Rawley & Bull Dempsey took on the debuting Mechanics!

Tyler Breeze def. Angelo Dawkins
Prince Pretty showed his mean streak as he took on Angelo Dawkins. After Breeze was taken down by his opponent at the start of the match, the No. 1 Contender to the NXT Championship unleashed his rage on Dawkins. Breeze stomped him relentlessly in the corner before hurling him into the ringside barricade, then tossing him back into the ring, where he decked Dawkins with the Beauty Shot for the victory.

After the bout, NXT Champion Adrian Neville arrived to ask Breeze when their much-anticipated title match would be. After the two traded insults, Breeze tried to attack the champion, only to catch a few kicks, sending him reeling from the ring.

NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte def. Becky Lynch
After defeating Summer Rae to retain her title last week, Charlotte returned to action this week against a refocused Becky Lynch. There were no more jigs from the Irish Diva as she brought the fight straight to the NXT Women’s Champion. Becky looked to have the upper hand on Charlotte until the champion targeted her leg, slowing her down. Though Becky fired up and nearly upset the champion, her weakened limb left her open to Bow Down to the Queen, allowing Charlotte to win the match.

The Ascension def. Steve Cutler & Mac Miles
With a tournament to determine their next challengers set to start in one week, Konnor & Viktor took time out of their 302nd day as NXT Tag Team Champions to send a message. There’s no other way to say it — The Ascension demolished their opposition. Konnor & Viktor toyed with Steve Cutler, pretending that they would allow him to tag in Mac Miles, only to hit him with the Fall of Man.

The longest-reigning champions in NXT history then let the teams vying for the No. 1 Contendership know what awaits them, should they win: “Total annihilation!”

Mojo Rawley & Bull Dempsey def. The Mechanics
Two new teams in NXT were looking to make an impact ahead of the No. 1 Contenders’ tournament, as the debuting Mechanics, Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder, took on the unlikely pairing of Mojo Rawley & Bull Dempsey. Though they looked impressive in their NXT debut, there was only so much Dawson & Wilder could do against the brute force of their opponents. Rawley & Dempsey did not seem to be on the same page, but they were able to power through, as Dempsey took out Wilder with the Bulldozer for the win.

Adam Rose def. Tyson Kidd
Tyson Kidd wasn’t in a partying mood this week, as he issued a challenge to Adam Rose. The conductor of The Exotic Express was more than happy to accept. Though Kidd used his wrestling expertise to confuse Rose, the Hart Dungeon graduate wasn’t ready for his opponent’s antics. Kidd was incensed after Rose offered his wife, Natalya, a lollipop.

The ruthless Kidd pounced on Rose, pummeling him in the corner. Rose got his second wind and began to fire up, stunning Kidd with a series of punches and a huge clothesline. Despite this, Kidd took time to have a word with his wife and mock his opponent, allowing Rose to roll up his opponent and walk out of NXT with the victory! Natalya tried to console her husband, but a frustrated Kidd pulled away, seemingly blaming her for his loss.
