WWE
WWE material dates back as far as the 1970s. In its initial run, these WWE programs originally cleared on MSG, USA, NBC, Spike and UPN, as well as on Pay-Per-View, home video and in broadcast syndication. WWE content continues to grow with the library as the company continues to produce more than nine hours of original programming every week, year-round.
WCW
From 1988 to 2001, WWE’s main competitor, WCW (World Championship Wrestling) was the only other wrestling programming playing to a national audience. Transformed from Jim Crockett Promotions when it was bought by Turner Broadcasting, WCW showcased top stars like Ric Flair®, Sting, the NWO® and Goldberg™.
ECW
An underground wrestling phenomenon of the 1990s, ECW started as a local group in Philadelphia and became a hard-hitting, edgy alternative to more mainstream sports entertainment programming.
AWA
At one time, the AWA (American Wrestling Association) was one of the nation’s largest wrestling organizations. Based in the Midwest, this promotion thrived from the 1960s – 1980s.
NWA
The predecessor to WCW, NWA Jim Crockett Promotions was based in the Mid-Atlantic and began such annual traditions as Starrcade and The Great American Bash. WWE’s footage dates back to the early 1980s.
SMW
Smoky Mountain Wrestling existed from 1992 to 1995 and it was an independent wrestling promotion that had a working relationship with WWE. Smoky Mountain Wrestling was based in the Kentucky/Tennessee region.
WCCW
World Class Championship Wrestling (“WCCW”) was a popular territory of the NWA that was based out of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. It was run by the legendary Von Erich Family from 1966 to 1990.
Stampede
Stampede Wrestling (“CSW”) was a Canadian professional wrestling promotion based in Calgary, Alberta. Stampede Wrestling was operated by the legendary Stu Hart from 1948 to 1984 and was a member of the NWA until 1982.
CWF
Championship Wrestling from Florida (“CWF”) was a Florida based NWA wrestling promotion that existed from 1961 to 1987. Eddie Graham bought into the promotion in 1961 and took over completely in 1971.
