1. Sponsor: World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., 1241 E. Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902 (“WWE” or “Sponsor”)
2. Contest Administrator: LeadDog Marketing Group, 159 W. 25th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001. (“LeadDog” or “Administrator”)
3. Eligibility: The “Smackdown vs. Raw ‘08 Video Game Tournament” ("Contest") is only open to attendees of the WWE WrestleMania Fan Axxess Tour who reside within fifty (50) miles of the Fan Axxess Tour location where they enter. Any individuals (including but not limited to employees, consultants, independent contractors, and interns) who have, within the past six months, performed services for WWE, THQ, LeadDog, or any entities responsible for sponsoring, fulfilling, administering, advertising or promoting the Contest or supplying the prizes, and/or their respective parent, subsidiary, affiliated and successor companies, and immediate family and household members of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or win. "Immediate family members" shall mean parents, step-parents, children, step-children, siblings, step-siblings, or spouses, regardless of where they live. "Household members" shall mean people who share the same residence at least three months a year, whether related or not. Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify from this Contest any person it believes has intentionally violated these Rules. Void where prohibited by law.
4. Contest Entry: A Contest tournament will take place once per day at each WWE Fan Axxess Tour stop between January 25th – March 31, 2008 (see www.wwe.com for confirmed dates and locations). The registration period for a chance to compete in the tournament will begin one (1) hour prior to the start of the competition. Times vary based on tour location. See www.wwe.com for confirmed locations and corresponding tournament dates and times. The Sponsor’s computer is the official clock for this contest. To enter the random drawing for a chance to compete in the tournament, potential participants must submit their name at the Fan Nation Station at the Fan Axxess Tour one hour prior to tournament start time. Registration is free and potential participants may register for a chance to play no more than once per day at each WWE Fan Axxess Tour stop. Upon registration, potential participants will be asked to provide their full name, address, phone number and date of birth.
5. Random Drawing/Selection of Potential Tournament Players: Sixteen (16) potential tournament players will be randomly selected from all submissions by a representative of Sponsor approximately fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the tournament. The names of the sixteen (16) randomly selected participants will be announced as they are selected. Potential participants must be present during the random drawing to confirm eligibility to play in the tournament. Entrants not randomly selected to participate may still have a chance to compete as last-minute replacements and, therefore, attendance at the start of the tournament is encouraged.
6. Tournament Rules and Guidelines: The sixteen (16) randomly selected tournament players will be paired by random drawing into a tournament bracket. Tournament players will each compete in order of the tournament bracket in one game of THQ’s Raw vs. Smackdown ’08. Each game will yield one winner to advance in the tournament. Throughout the tournament, the winner of each game will be determined by the rules of THQ’s Raw vs. Smackdown ’08. Virtual managers will not be allowed to enter the video game matches at any point in the Contest. The final winning player from the last game in each tournament will be declared the Grand Prize Winner.
Players may select any UNLOCKED Superstar on the game’s roster. LOCKED CHARACTERS (Legends and Unlockable Playable Characters, or UPCs) may not be used in tournament play (Bret Hart, Jim Neidhart, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Mankind, Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Bam Bam Bigelow, Mr. Perfect, Dusty Rhodes, Shane McMahon, Jerry Lawler, Tazz). ***NOTE*** - Mick Foley and Eddie Guerrero are Legends in the game roster, but are unlocked by default, and therefore are eligible to be used for the purposes of this tournament.
If two competing players choose to use the same Superstar, a staff person will select one player at random and a coin toss will be performed with that player choosing either “heads” or “tails.” The winner of the coin toss may use the desired Superstar. The other player must select another Superstar for the match.
Players may not use custom characters (a.k.a. Create-A-Superstar, or CAS) for the tournament. Players may not use a memory card for their matches, as this would enable them to use their custom Superstars and give them an unfair advantage.
Players can only select the SINGLE match type option. (Only 1-v-1 match types will be allowed. No Tag Team, Triple Threat, etc. is allowed.) Players cannot select to use a Manager. Players can select any available arena as long as they both agree on it.
Once a tournament grid has been created, players must be present at the beginning of the tournament to compete. If a player is absent, they will forfeit their entry for the duration of that day’s tournament, and a replacement player will be chosen at random by WWE on-site staff. If no replacement player can be found, their Round 1 match is considered a forfeit, and their opponent automatically advances to the next round. Players must remain in close proximity of the tournament area for the duration of the tournament until they are eliminated. Failure to do will result in a forfeit and their scheduled opponent will advance to the next round.
Match settings must be set on each game console before the beginning of every tournament. THQ strongly recommends using the attached game settings to ensure a match that is fair, competitive, entertaining, and expedited. Please refer to them for each tournament.
Tournaments are limited to 16 players (1st round = 16, 2nd round = 8, 3rd round = 4, 4th round = 2). Tournaments will be single-elimination style, beginning with four matches (two players each) running concurrently on the four supplied kiosks. (NOTE – Round 1 will be divided into two segments due to the number of playable kiosks on-site.)
Once a match starts, players will compete until a winner is determined by pinfall or submission. KO’s will not be allowed to determine a winner. Once a winner is determined, that player advances to the next round.
The tournament winner is decided in the final round. Once a winner is determined, prizes are awarded accordingly, and the tournament is complete.
