Harper def. Dominik Dijakovic
It’s Worlds Collide Sunday. You know what that means: Harper’s back.
In his first singles match on WWE Network since undergoing wrist surgery last year, the former Intercontinental and NXT Tag Team Champion brought a perilous fight to NXT’s five-tool player, Dominik Dijakovic. Approaching the match as if it was the main event of WrestleMania, Harper threw everything he had at The Rare Breed, and Dijakovic was only too happy to return the favor. The result was a wildly unpredictable brawl between two of the premier heavyweights in all of WWE.
Dijakovic outmuscled the 275-pound SmackDown Superstar, slinging him from one end of the ring to the other. Later, he claimed a two-count after dropping Harper with a chokeslam powerbomb. Harper responded in the extreme, drilling Dijakovic with a Michinoku Driver off the apron and onto the floor. The impact was sickening — onlookers were visibly shocked — but both Superstars, somehow, still had gas left in the tank, and the match roared on.
The big hits continued, as did the reversals. Dijakovic even countered Harper’s German superplex by backflipping into a safe landing, much to the WWE Universe’s amazement. But when the match descended into a slugfest, Harper’s discus lariat won out.
Harper offered a handshake after the brutal encounter and Dijakovic accepted, underscoring the deep respect that both Superstars have for each other.
