The Rock defeats Undertaker and Kurt Angle in a Triple Threat Match to become WWE Champion

This match was originally slated to be a singles match between The Rock and Undertaker for the WWE Championship. But as Vengeance drew closer, Kurt Angle wrestled to a draw with Undertaker, so the Olympic Gold Medalist earned an opportunity at the Championship as well and a Triple Threat Match was signed.

Early on in the match, The Rock used Angle's ankle lock, but the Wrestling Machine was able to counter with a Rock Bottom. Undertaker didn't want to miss out on the fun, so he came in and gave the Olympic Gold Medalist an Angle Slam. Undertaker went on to chokeslam Angle, but then received a Rock Bottom from the People's Champ. Angle recovered in time to break up the pin and hit Undertaker with an Angle Slam. But The Rock was able to bounce back and hit Angle with a Rock Bottom for the win and the WWE Championship.

The win marked The Rock's seventh and final WWE Championship reign.
