Triple H playing risky game
Despite the stipulations stacked in Carlito's favor, Triple H says he's ready for him at Unforgiven.
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Most people would not respect anyone who spat in their face. But not Triple H. And if you watched The Game closely two weeks ago during his encounter with Carlito, he smiled as phlegm and Red Delicious apple chunks ran down his eyes and cheeks. He liked the fact that Carlito had the guts to spit in the face of someone he didn’t think was cool, even if that someone was the 10-time world champion and King of Kings.
“I think if you had asked anybody if they thought Carlito would have spat apple in my face, they would have told you that you were crazy,” Triple H told WWE.com. “I looked him dead in the eye, and he looked in mine, and he had the balls to spit apple in my face. Not many people have the guts to do that.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not going to kick his ass for it,” The Game continued. “That doesn’t mean I’m not going to beat him senseless for it. But I do respect the fact that he at least had the guts to stand up and do what he believed in.”
And with an attempted attack from behind with a steel chair Monday night on Raw, it seems that the Caribbean Bad Apple has gotten The Game’s attention, in addition to his begrudging respect. One week after Triple H shocked all of WWE when he bloodied and put out the seemingly indestructible Umaga, Carlito showed that he was not afraid of the “overrated” Game. Carlito’s attack on The Game was foiled, but he showed him that he meant very serious business. (WATCH)
Now that Acting Raw GM Jonathan Coachman has made their match at Unforgiven this Sunday a No Disqualification Match only for Carlito, Triple H’s career may be in real danger. Carlito can use any weapon he wants against Triple H and not get disqualified. However, Triple H will lose automatically if he uses object on Carlito.
This stipulation enables Carlito to use any weapon to target The Game’s surgically-repaired quad. Triple H is aware that he – and especially his quad – are targets for not only Carlito, but any opponent. But he warns that Carlito better be prepared to get the job done if he tries to end his career.
“People can go after my leg all they want. They can do anything they want,” he said. “The fact of the matter is they better hope they get an opportunity to go after my leg, and they better hope to God that they actually injure me. I’ve shown that I’m 100 percent since I’ve been back. … I’m back and I’m stronger than ever. Carlito’s gonna find that out in less than a week.”
Triple H sent a message to all Carlito and all of WWE when he held up the crimson-soaked face of the unconscious Samoan Bulldozer for all the TV cameras to see. The message: He is back and still the same Cerebral Assassin our fans have loved and opponents have feared.
But maybe The Game should fear Carlito. The Caribbean Superstar had a week to digest the image of Umaga lying face-down in his own blood, and he still came after Triple H – even though it was from behind.
Maybe Carlito showed he is really afraid of Triple H. If nothing else, he proved he will do anything to get an advantage. And with the stipulations in his favor at Unforgiven, Carlito has the opportunity to cause shockwaves in WWE. The former United States and Intercontinental Champion is hungry for respect. Taking out The Game at Unforgiven would give Carlito respect and make him feared.
Still, Triple H is not worried about the odds being stacked against him. He is ready to handle whatever weapons Carlito brings to their showdown.
“It doesn’t make a difference to me whether it’s a regular match or no disqualification for the both of us,” he said. “If Carlito picks up a chair or a picks a ring bell up or picks up anything else from ringside, he will be digging it up out of one of his major orifices before the end of the match. It doesn’t make a difference to me what he does, Carlito is going to go down.”
