Survivor Series news & notes

Survivor Series blog

It’s the calm before the storm here in the City of Brotherly Love. Tonight, when Survivor Series gets underway, the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia will be packed with raucous WWE fans. Throughout the day WWE.com has witnessed various Superstars engaged in activities leading up to tonight’s pay-per-view. Check back to for updates as WWE.com chronicles Survivor Series.

7:55 p.m.

Just moments before Survivor Series went live on pay-per-view, Carlito defeated Charlie Haas in a non-televised match in front of 17,893 fans at the sold-out Wachovia Center.

5:10 p.m.

While the WWE fans waited to get inside the Wachovia Center, they enjoyed Seasons Beatings hosted by Mick Foley. The feature is part of WWE 24/7 On Demand’s December Shorties program, and was displayed on a 30’ x30’ inflatable screen. Huddled together, the crowed flinched as they watched Shawn Michaels hit Bret Hart with some vicious Sweet Chin Music.

4:35 p.m.

Before the Wachovia Center filled to the rafters with ravenous Philadelphia fans, a pre-flight zeppelin sponsored by WWE's new video game  “SmackDown vs. Raw 2007” was spotted on the arena floor. In just hours, the black blimp will rise from its crevice and hover above the Survivor Series action.

4:04 p.m.

ECW’s newest Extremist, Lashley, is sitting ringside just hours before he crashes into action carrying the extreme barbed wire banner. With Superstars from all three brands present in the locker room, SmackDown’s former United States Champion isolated himself in the Wachovia Center.

3:37 p.m.

Melina jogged up and down the empty arena stairs while listening to her iPod nano. The Raw Diva was killing time before she goes to ringside to support her man, Johnny Nitro, in his match later tonight. Nitro will team with Rated-RKO, Mike Knox & Gregory Helms to take on DX, CM Punk and Matt & Jeff Hardy.

2:15 p.m.

Although Tommy Dreamer isn’t competing at tonight’s Survivor Series, he told WWE.com that he understands the importance of supporting fellow ECW Extremists Sabu, Rob Van Dam and CM Punk in their matches.  The ECW Original was noticeably nervous as he found solitude in a secluded corridor and talked to an unknown person on his cell phone about tonight’s pay-per-view.

1:30 p.m.

With six and half hours before the pyro explodes and Survivor Series officially begins, Kenny of the Spirit Squad is caught in deep focus as he begins to prepare for his match against some of the most celebrated Legends in WWE history. Noticeably missing were the other four members of the Squad.

11:30 a.m.

John Cena, with his WWE Championship slung over his right shoulder, walks down the hallways of the Wachovia Center with a package of strawberry Pop Tarts in hand. The Champ – also the captain of his team – was the first Superstar on his team to arrive on site.
