Continental Airlines Arena's one millionth WWE fan
"Right now, I'm just in complete shock," said Mezzacappa, adorned in a Triple H T-shirt in support of The Game's imminent return. "I never thought anything like this would ever happen to me."
Just moments ago, droves of ravenous SummerSlam fans corralled their way through the entrance of the hallowed building in East Rutherford, N.J. Out of all of them, one very fortunate WWE fanatic was selected by chance to receive a replica WWE Championship title, signed by main event opponents John Cena and Randy Orton.
Celebrating more than 92 events in the building, a large banner will hang in the arena rafters forever, alongside an elite few including the NBA's New Jersey Nets and the Garden State's own, Bruce Springsteen.
"WWE has been putting on events here since 1984. It's a great history and it's been an incredible run," said Ron Vanderveen, Vice President and General Manager of Continental Airlines Arena. "[WWE] is the first family entertainment promoter that we have bestowed this honor to. Plus, it's great to give back to fans who have provided WWE and this arena with their patronage over the years."
Of those countless fans that have sat in elation while watching the WWE Superstars perform live in East Rutherford, perhaps one stands taller than any other tonight at the Biggest Party of the Summer. Enjoying his very first live WWE pay-per-view experience, one millionth fan Mezzacappa pledged to carry his prestigious honor proudly like the true "die hard WWE fan" he is.
"This changes my night completely," he added. "This changes everything. It's great. Nothing can make this night better."
