Layla's wet initiation
SummerSlam marked Layla El's very wet initiation as a WWE Diva. After walking in the ladies' locker room, Layla was shunned by WWE Divas Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, Maria, Candice Michelle, Jillian Hall, Ashley and ECW Vixen Kelly Kelly. Layla tried to introduce herself to the Divas, but they acted like they wanted no part of her.
Candice shoved a WWE magazine in Layla's face. Ashley literally turned her back on Layla, and then pointed out that her broken knuckle and cast makes her worthy of being a WWE Diva. Trish said she's a six-time WWE Women's Champion, and that's why she's a WWE Diva. Layla just stood there, shocked that the Divas were treating her this way.
"If you think you can win some little contest and call yourself a WWE Diva…" Trish said while a nervous Layla looked on in disbelief. "Well you can," Trish laughed, finally letting her in on the joke.
Layla, obviously relieved, said she enjoyed her initiation. But Trish said the joking around wasn't her real initiation. The Divas tossed a clothed Layla into the shower. They turned on the water, playfully spanked her bottom, and congratulated and welcomed her to WWE.
After getting all wet with her fellow WWE Divas, Layla spoke exclusively to WWE.com.
"Initiation was cold, it was wet, but it was a lot of fun. I still have some bruises on my butt, but I guess I'll be OK," she joked.
"My first day was awesome. I was a little nervous coming in at first, but the girls made me feel welcome. Everyone was congratulating me. I just feel so special and so privileged to be a part of this family."
Layla's first official day as a WWE Diva came at the perfect time -- on the day of the Biggest Party of the Summer.
"SummerSlam was awesome. I couldn't have asked for a better first event. SummerSlam was just amazing and I can't wait to do more and more."
