Arena Report - Nassau Coliseum

On Friday night, SmackDown hits the Nassau Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.  Located on Long Island, it is only 19 miles from New York City. The Coliseum is host to the New York Islanders hockey team, the New York Dragons arena football team and can seat over 16,000 fans.

The venue has seen its share of exciting WWE action in the past. The first third of WrestleMania 2 aired live from the Coliseum and included a song by Ray Charles and a boxing match featuring "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Mr. T. In more recent pay-per-view history, SummerSlam blasted into the Arena in 2002 and saw Shawn Michaels defeat future DX partner Triple H in a Street Fight.

Since opening its doors on May 29, 1972 on the site of a former Army base, the Coliseum has hosted Billy Joel, Bruce Springstein, Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead. Tune into SmackDown at 8/7 CT on CW to catch all the action from the Nassau Veterans Coliseum as WWE continues to make history as the best sports-entertainment in the world.
