When Matt Hardy and MVP began their rivalry over Porter’s United States Championship, none could have predicted that the two Superstars would ever set aside their differences for anything. Yet when they were forced to do so by SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long, Matt and MVP managed to co-exist long enough to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship from Deuce & Domino. The win, many claim, has allowed MVP to keep the biggest threat to his golden supremacy occupied with tag title defenses and one-on-one contests to prove who the superior person is on their unorthodox tandem.

How long, though, can the two remain on the same page and defend the WWE Tag Team Championship if Hardy is still dreaming of a greater gold rush? What contests will the co-champions have in store for each other if this gamesmanship continues? Are these competitions going to continue long enough that MVP can completely take Hardy’s focus off the United States Championship?

WWE.com takes a look back at some of the contests the “half-man, half-amazing, one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions” and his partner, Matt Hardy, have competed in against one another.

Arm Wrestling Contest - 08/03/07

Before facing off in their first contest to one-up each other, MVP delayed by spending the majority of his time warming up and powdering his hands. The holdup by the U.S. Champion didn't help his cause, however, as Matt Hardy still prevailed. Afterward, Hardy defeated MVP when the Ballin' Superstar walked out on their non-title match. Watch

Boxing Match - 08/18/07

MVP's challenge - a Saturday Night's Main Event Boxing Match took an interesting turn when Porter brought in a surrogate to take his place: Four-time Heavyweight Champion of the World, Evander Holyfield. As "The Real Deal" pummeled Hardy, MVP pressed him to finish the job. Instead, an annoyed Holyfield knocked out MVP, and raised Matt's arms.

One-on-One Basketball Challenge - 08/24/07

MVP is the Ballin' Superstar, but not even the flashiest man in WWE could manage to use that moniker to his advantage. Matt Hardy bounced the basketball off Porter's ego-inflated head to score an easy two points. This contest never saw an ending though, as Deuce & Domino attacked the Superstars that had just been named tag title contenders.

Beer Drinking Contest - SummerSlam - 08/26/07

When the new WWE Tag Team Champions attended the Biggest Party of the Summer, Matt Hardy took a page out of MVP’s playbook with a last-call audible, naming a surrogate for the Beer Drinking Contest. Hardy recruited “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who served up the beer drinking victory via a Stone Cold Stunner to the brazen MVP. Watch

Chess Match - 09/14/07

Trading in physical challenges for a more intellectually stimulating contest, Matt Hardy and his fellow champion MVP decided to flex their brain power in a game of chess. When it looked as if the young North Carolinian made all the right moves, MVP’s allergy to losing caused him to sneeze the chess pieces away. Watch the video now

Football Toss - 09/21/07

This time, Hardy and MVP tried their hand at tossing pigskins through a tire. MVP had been “perfect” on his throws, though when Matt was ready to duplicate the feat, the flashy U.S. Champion was having none of it. He intercepted Hardy’s final throw and declared himself a “world class defensive player.” Watch the video now

Pushup Contest - 10/05/07

There is one quality Hardy possesses that holds him back in these one-on-one contests: Honesty. MVP pulled Matt’s hand out from under him to steal the victory. As the two argued, Deuce & Domino entered for their match. Hardy & MVP won, but not without controversy – an MVP low-blow sealed the victory. Watch the video

Pizza-Eating Competition - No Mercy - 10/07/07

Chicago is known as the home of the deep dish, so when MVP and Matt chowed down in their very own pizza-eating competition, the only thing blowing through the Windy City were chunks from Matt's mouth. The winner wasn’t as important as the fact that MVP’s attire was splattered with Matt’s undigested projectile, much to the delight of our fans.
