DETROIT – With World Heavyweight Champion Batista watching from ringside, Finlay and Rey Mysterio faced off on SmackDown last Friday, battling for the right to be named No. 1 contender to The Animal’s gold at Cyber Sunday. But the ring could not contain the tension that erupted between the Irishman and Mysterio – nor could it ultimately keep out another threat to Batista’s reign as champion.

Friday night on SmackDown, Rey Mysterio met Finlay in a No. 1 Contender’s Match to determine Batista’s opponent at Cyber Sunday. But after Undertaker’s unexpected appearance left both Mysterio and Finlay laid out in his wake, the World Heavyweight Championship Match for Oct. 28 was put in flux.

Following his Punjabi Prison Match victory at No Mercy, Batista has washed his hands of The Great Khali. As the World Heavyweight Champion informed WWE.com earlier this week, he beat the Punjabi Goliath on his own turf, so no more rematches for the title. However, at Cyber Sunday, The Animal will have to contend with one of two other SmackDown Superstars who squared off in the ring at last Sunday’s pay-per-view – in a contest that only intensified their already heated rivalry.

It often is said that a caged animal is the most dangerous. At No Mercy, Batista proved that theory by brutalizing The Great Khali and escaping the Punjabi Prison first to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Despite going into the unknown, in his opponent’s signature specialty match, The Animal was able to conquer Khali for the third time. So what’s next for the powerful World Heavyweight Champion? According to him, it’s not going to be round four with the Punjabi powerhouse.
