He's cocky, he's flashy and he's the self-proclaimed "first ballot Hall of Famer." Montel Vontavious Porter has taken Friday nights by storm since becoming the highest paid free agent in sports-entertainment history. In his rookie year as a SmackDown Superstar, MVP has captured championship bling, defeated ring legends and introduced us to his Ballin' mentality. WWE.com looks back at some of the Franchise Playa's biggest highlights of the year, and the ever-outspoken MVP demanded that his voice be heard to add to the celebration.

A lucrative deal - 09/27/06

"It was one of the most glorious days in SmackDown history. The man who'd revolutionize Friday nights was signed, giving people an opportunity to see that there was a brand new reason for them to watch SmackDown."

Is that a power ranger? - No Mercy 10/08/06

The time for talking was over, so the highest paid free agent in SmackDown history made his in-ring debut on a pay-per-view, and defeated the not-so-formidable Marty Garner.

"I remember the day. It was a big day for MVP, but, Marty who?"

The Great Escape - 11/24/06

MVP had demanded some competition on SmackDown, so General Manager Theodore Long granted the cocky newcomer's request. After stealing a Street Fight win over Kane the week before, MVP miraculously escaped the confines of a Steel Cage for another upset victory.

Survivor Series Sellout - 11/26/06

The Franchise Playa made his presence felt at Survivor Series when he lent a hand to Mr. Kennedy during a First Blood Match with Undertaker. The chair-wielding MVP bloodied The Phenom with a thunderous chair blast, securing the upset win for Kennedy.

He's on fire. Really, he's on fire! - ARMAGEDDON 12/17/06

Entering a literal ring of fire that kindled Kane's sadistic nature, MVP was set ablaze in an Inferno Match, sidelining him for weeks.

MVP takes on "international champions"

Granted an United States Championship Match at WrestleMania 23, MVP warmed up for the biggest night in his career by challenging El Grande Latte, Viko Batomango and Cedrick Von Haussen. Though victorious against these "great" champions, MVP couldn't win the title on the biggest stage in sports-entertainment.

MVP defeats Matt Hardy for the first time - 05/18/07

"Did you expect anything less? Listen, whatever I do, I do it better than everyone else. I’ve proven it time and time again. Simply because I am better. When I prove something, I do so with my actions. I don’t have to say that I’m better, I display that I'm better. And I’ve beat Matt Hardy time and time again."

Bling, Bling - 05/20/07

Finally backing up the bold statements he made when he signed the most lucrative contract in sports-entertainment history, MVP captured the United States Title at Judgment Day, getting his first taste of championship bling in WWE.

Champion vs. Champion - 06/11/07

For 2007's WWE Draft, SmackDown's United States Champion made a VIP appearance on Raw, defeating then-Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella. With his milestone victory, MVP actually delighted our fans for the first time, as Diva Torrie Wilson was drafted to SmackDown with the next pick.

Hatin' on The "Nature Boy" - 06/24/07

At Vengeance: Night of Champions, MVP defeated Ric Flair to retain the U.S. Title.

"I had a point to prove. People told me that Ric Flair was the greatest U.S. Champion in the history of pro wrestling. Well, if I beat the greatest U.S. Champion in the history of pro wrestling, what does that make me?"

Bashing dreams - 07/22/07

At The Great American Bash, MVP put his U.S. bling up against the red-hot Matt Hardy. Hardy was determined to prove that he was ready to wear WWE singles gold, but the Franchise Playa wasn't interested in Matt's dreams; he stole the victory and retained his coveted U.S. Title.

MVP calls in "The Real Deal" - 08/18/07

"The whole world saw that I was trying to encourage Evander to finish the fight. I don’t know what happened...maybe he had a loss of heart. He sucker-punched me. Everybody knows that MVP is better than Evander Holyfield. But he sucker-punched me and that was wrong...I’m still looking for him."

An Unlikely Duo - 08/31/07
