WWE Champion Sheamus def. Randy Orton by Disqualification

ATLANTA - In the battle of Snake Eyes versus Irish Eyes, it's clear whose peepers were smiling and whose were crimson with anger as WWE Champion Sheamus narrowly survived to retain his coveted title.

Leading up to the match, Randy Orton had taken tremendous pains to slither inside his opponent's psyche, coiling himself tightly inside the Irishman's head and waiting for the most opportune moment to strike. That moment, however, would prove to be his undoing.

As The Viper and his prey clashed inside the Philips Arena, Cody Rhodes attempted to distract The Celtic Warrior, defying his Legacy ringleader, who had demanded that there be no interference. Rhodes' plan to help Orton backfired miserably, though, as The Viper was disqualified.

In the aftermath, an irate Orton berated and slapped around Rhodes. When Ted DiBiase rushed to the aid of his fellow Legacy henchman, Orton attacked him, too. The Viper's blind rage then allowed Sheamus to surprise him and drop him with a massive boot. (PHOTOS)

While The Celtic Warrior may have escaped The Viper's sting this time, there's little doubt that the fangs are now out.
