WWE fans on Tribute to the Troops
Christmas night saw WWE's fourth annual Tribute to the Troops, as the fighting men and women at Camp Victory in Baghdad, Iraq were treated to the WWE experience. WWE fans sent their thoughts on this year’s tribute and what WWE’s visit meant to them. This is what they said:
Name: Mike Keller
Comments: I just wanted to thank you for the Tribute to the Troops. I was totally alone for Christmas and feeling sad, but the tribute put a big smile on my face. I have been a WWE fan for 35 years and plan on being one for another 35. Thank you for the special entertainment you bring each and every week.

Comments: My family and I just watched Tribute to the Troops, and we want to thank you for doing this show. My husband has been in the United States Army for 15 years and is getting ready to go to Iraq for 18-24 months. We want to thank WWE for your support of our troops and their families.
Name: Mike Coyne
Comments: I just got done watching the Tribute to the Troops show from Iraq. I just wanted to send a thank you from a soldier already home from my service in Iraq. I spent 11 months in the country. I wasn’t able to be home with my family and friends for the holidays in 2004. For you guys to go to the troops and bring the holidays to them is an amazing thing, and it was awesome to see take place. Again THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for supporting my brothers and sisters in arms during the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year.

Comments: I just want to thank you so much for the job you did in Iraq. I watched it and it brought tears to my eyes. I am 57 years old and don't usually watch your show, but this was really special. Good job and the woman who sang the National Anthem was super. Thanks again.

Comments: I would just like to take a moment to say thank you for your Tribute to the Troops. I watched the show tonight and it was awesome. I think what your company did was a great show of respect and a big morale booster. I served under President Bush's father in Desert Storm/Shield and tonight I felt like I was still over there with my brothers and sisters. I am a big fan of your show and watch as often as I can, and would just like to say "thanks for your show of support for our troops.”

Comments: I would like to express my thanks to Vince, the WWE Staff and the WWE Superstars for the Tribute to the Troops shows you put on. As a 19 year Air Force veteran, I find the Tribute to the Troops shows extremely morale lifting. As I watched your show on Christmas night I was very moved by the Superstars talking about the good time they had with the troops and was excited for them (the troops) being able to witness in person the show the Superstars put on for the them. For everyone at WWE to take time away from their families each year to give our uniformed men and women a show like you did, I salute each and every one of you.
Being deployed during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm from August 1990 - March 1991 I can attest that being away from our families and not knowing when we were coming home, especially during the holidays, was a test of our inner strength. These men and women currently deployed fighting for the freedom for all of us back home don't have the opportunity to watch WWE every week as we do here. To see the Superstars and troops interacting during the show was very uplifting. I commend you Vince for what you, the staff and Superstars do for our troops. May you continue to have the opportunities to put on future shows for the troops for many years to come. Thank you very much.

Comments: My name is MSG Byrd and I would like to personally send my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to WWE. I have been on active duty for almost 22 years and am currently stationed at Camp Liberty in Iraq. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting some WWE Superstars on your visit here for the Tribute to the Troops special. I had the pleasure of allowing my soldiers to go and witness the show live, and I must tell you that you were the talk of the town when they came back. Unfortunately, I could not attend because I let all of my younger soldiers attend the live taping of the show and someone had to work that day. However, I did get to meet the Superstars at the autograph session later that night. That night when I shook Vince McMahon's hand, I relayed my thanks to him for coming over to visit the soldiers.
Words cannot describe the morale boost that your presence and interaction with the soldiers provided. I have been deployed several times and I have never seen the affects that your show had on my Soldiers. Mr. McMahon graciously told me that the pleasure was all his and you could sense just how genuine his comments were to me. Not just that, but all of the Superstars present that night left a long lasting impression on me that I will remember for a very long time. Their willingness to come into "harm's way" as we say in the Army is truly why all of us do our jobs each day. It is people and organizations like you that make it easy for us to willingly do our jobs of protecting and preserving our way of life for our families, friends, and the citizens of the greatest country on earth - the United States of America.
Additionally, the WWE Superstars were just so open and friendly with all of the Soldiers present that night. I did not see one request for a picture or autograph turned down. Their actions mirrored those of what all true professional soldiers exhibit every day - selfless service. You did not have to do it, but you did it out of a sense of genuine desire and not obligation. Actions like these truly make serving our country worthwhile.
I wish everyone at WWE the greatest success, prosperity, and good health for many years to come. I know that seeing the joy you brought to the troops was probably the best thanks you could have received. However, it is still good to hear it every now and then. That being said, this "Old Soldier" would like to just say thank you for all you did for my soldiers on your visit to Iraq. You truly will not know and understand the magnitude your visit had on their lives that day. It allowed them to realize that despite being miles away from home and their loved ones, someone cared enough about them to make a difference and surely it did. Again, I wish all of you at WWE the best of health, success, and prosperity not just for 2007, but for many years to come.

Comments: Thank you for visiting our soldiers in Iraq and brightening their lives. I am watching the show tonight with tears in my eyes on Christmas night, hoping to catch a glimpse of my husband, SPC Kevin Donahue, in Camp Scania. He told me on the phone how impressed he was with your visit. I haven't heard that "spark" in his voice in a long time. He has been gone over a year with the Minn. National Guard, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring about our troops. Our teenage boys are even home tonight watching your show, and I have seen tears in their eyes as well. Thank you...my heart is so grateful that you have taken the time to honor and entertain our soldiers. Merry Christmas and God Bless You All!!!
