Shake, rattle & roll

RALEIGH, N.C. - With legendary guitar gurus Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top sharing celebrity guest hosting honors, tonight's Raw was bound to be a rockin' time. As if to drive home the point, John Cena, Triple H and WWE Champion Randy Orton struck a menacing chord.

John Cena & Triple H def. WWE Champion Randy Orton & The Legacy (PHOTOS | WATCH)
For all the disdain he exhibits toward his Night of Champions opponents, Triple H and John Cena, WWE Champion Randy Orton knows enough not to take these two men lightly. As he teamed up with his Legacy cohorts Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase against the pair, Orton knew this match would be pivotal. After all, whoever wins would be sure to enjoy a tremendous amount of momentum heading into Night of Champions. The only problem being that The Game and Cena were both well aware of the ramifications as well.

After a bumpy ride -- as well as some high contention with The Game -- it was Cena who finally scored a quick pin on The Viper, securing not only the win but also a great boost toward Night of Champions in just six days.

Hornswoggle def. Chavo Guerrero in a "Sharp Dressed Man" Tuxedo Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The humiliation continues for Chavo Guerrero. For the third time in a row, the proud "Mexican Warrior" lost to Hornswoggle, this time in a "Sharp Dressed Man" Match to borrow a name from one of ZZ Top's most beloved hits. After dropping bouts to Hornswoggle while fighting on his knees and also with one hand tied behind his back, tonight appeared to be pay back time for Guerrero. But it wasn't meant to be as the wily and persistent leprechaun went 3-0 against Chavo by ripping off Guerrero's tuxedo for the win.

Mark Henry def. Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho by disqualification (PHOTOS)
Chris Jericho has a decision to make. Who will the Unified Tag Team Champion choose as his teammate heading into Night of Champions now that Edge has suffered a debilitating injury? One thing is certain: It's not looking good for Mark Henry. The World's Strongest Man seemed bent on punishing Jericho until the arrogant Superstar attacked him with a metal folding chair, getting himself disqualified. Afterward, Henry not-so-subtly roughed up the Unified Tag Team Champion.

Divas Champion Maryse sprayed Mickie James in eyes with mystery substance (PHOTOS | WATCH)
As Mickie James spoke with WWE announcer Josh Mathews about her chances of capturing the Divas Championship against Maryse at Night of Champions, The Miz showed up in an apparent attempt at trying to impress the conceited French Canadian. After hearing enough of Miz's putdowns, Mickie turned to leave, only to be confronted by Maryse, who doused her eyes with a mystery substance.

Jerry "The King" Lawler def. The Brian Kendrick (PHOTOS)

Sadly for Kendrick, his mouth may have cost him his chance. After berating Jerry "The King" Lawler before his match, the WWE Hall of Famer introduced himself as Kendrick's opponent. Six Pack Challenge announced for Night of Champions for U.S. Title; U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston, MVP & Primo def. Big Show, Jack Swagger & Carlito (PHOTOS | WATCH)
The hunt for the United States Championship just took a large, disturbing turn. Before a Six-Man Tag Team Match kicked off, it was announced that United States Champion Kofi Kingston will defend his title this Sunday in a Six Pack Challenge at Night of Champions, which will see the Jamaican Superstar battle MVP, Big Show, Jack Swagger, The Miz and Carlito. Once the six-man bout got underway, the team of Kingston, MVP & Primo proved too much for Big Show, Swagger & Carlito when Primo pinned his Backstabbing brother. Perhaps to show his frustration -- or maybe his dominance -- The World's Largest Athlete then began to decimate everything in his path, including his own teammates.

WWE Champion Randy Orton will join The Legacy against John Cena & Triple H in main event (PHOTOS)
Cena informed the packed house at the RBC Center that when he battles Orton and The Game in a Triple Threat Match at Night of Champions in six days he plans on stepping from the ring with the WWE Title securely in his grasp. As might be expected, the current champion took exception.

The Viper was only too glad to administer a history lesson. He reminded Cena that it was he who retained the title when the three clashed previously in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXIV before his Legacy henchmen Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase surrounded the ring. Before they could act, however, The Game joined the party. He told Orton that he's unconcerned who wins the title at Night of Champions as long as it's not The Viper.

After digesting his opponents' criticism, Orton was not satisfied to simply antagonize The Game and Cena; he also asked that they include him in the main event match alongside Rhodes & DiBiase. The Game and Cena readily agreed, and so the main event would offer a preview of sorts of the Triple Threat WWE Title Match at Night of Champions.
